Fsa wing pro compact carbon8/25/2023 ![]() The thing I think is most important to understand is that if a crank size exceeds your fluid range of motion, you may as well be riding with the brakes on. From what I understand, the tiny 8% size range of cranks for adults comes from high-wheel racers from 130 years ago. My 5’2″ wife has had 140’s on her mtb for years, made by a machinist who shortens and sells them online. Nothing but improvement in speed and reduced hip pain. Last month I put a set of 153’s on my mtb. Hill climbing, based on gps history, improved a lot both in speed and comfort. My bikes come with 175s, 8 years ago on a whim I installed 170s on my road bike. I have moderate flexibility issues, 6’2″ tall. But smaller riders will obviously benefit too! They were in fact developed in response to Vision-sponsored tri pros who want shorter cranks to allow “shorter movement of your leg… creating less turbulence and therefore more aerodynamics performance” and pedaling more “similar to the movement of the leg during the running phase, therefore it creates less physical decompensation allowing the rider to face the last phase of the race in optimal way”. ![]() Conveyed to us as offering shorter cranks arm lengths ideal “for triathlon usage”, there’s plenty of potential benefit here beyond Ironman racing. The update of the long-running Gossamer Pro alloy crankset may be the biggest move towards offering more customized fit options. FSA Gossamer Pro alloy road crankset fit gets super short & sub-compact The $96 / 104€ Energy Super Compact features the same subtle 4° outward bend (not angled flare) to make room for your arms in the drops, but now gets a slightly more compact 120mm drop & 70mm reach, again to better fit smaller riders & juniors. It includes internal routing compatible with both semi-integrated ICR & fully-internal ACR stems. The double-butted 7050 alloy bar gets a 110mm wide x 31.8mm round clamping area that transitions to slightly flattened 34mm ergonomic flat tops. Less fancy looking but still high-end for an alloy dropbar, the FSA Energy goes Super Compact, adding new 36cm & 38cm options for smaller riders (in addition to standard Compact 40, 42 & 44cm bars, all measured center-center at the bar ends), with a weight claim of 255g (38cm). FSA Energy alloy road handlebar fit goes Super Compact With 115mm drop & 75mm reach, the 31.8mm clamp dropbar now comes in 40, 42, 44, 46 & 48cm widths (~5cm wider c-c at the drops) with a claimed weight of 205g (42cm). It features 5mm rise at the aero wing tops, a sculpted ergonomic section in the bends for comfort behind the brake hoods, and Di2-ready internal cable routing ports that are compatible with all of FSA’s ICR or ACR stems/headsets for semi-integrated or fully-hidden completely internal cable routing. The UD carbon, 12° flared carbon bar sells for $314 / 314€. Measured center-center at the hoods, the K-Wing AGX now adds wider 46cm & 48cm options, on top of the original 40, 42 & 44cm bars (apparently truly 3.5mm wider at the shifter mount). The 2021 update to the carbon K-Wing AGX aero gravel handlebar is the most straightforward out of the bunch here, adding two wider options to the premium flared dropbar for riders looking for more control off-road. In a bid to give riders a more customized bike setup with truly individual fit, FSA has substantially expanded size offerings – going big the K-Wing AGX & small for Energy handlebars, and super-short, sub-compact Gossamer Pro 1x & 2x cranksets… FSA K-Wing AGX aero gravel handlebars go wide FSA dials in personalized road and gravel bike fit for 2021 with broader sizing options across existing alloy & carbon bars and alloy cranksets.

Jest webstorm debug8/25/2023 ![]() The set of Jest projects within Nx workspaces tends to change. This configuration allows editor/IDE integrations to pick up individual project's configurations rather than the one at the root. The root level file configures Jest multi project support. Primary configurations for Jest will be via the file that generated for your project. Using the -runInBand flag tells jest to run in a single process. This is because each jest process creates a workers based on system resources, running multiple projects via nx and using jest workers will create too many process overall causing the system to run slower than desired. Typically, in CI it's recommended to use nx affected -t test -parallel= -runInBand for the best performance. Make sure to use localhost for the host and 9229 for the port.Snapshot files should be checked in with your code. It would take too long to list out the instructions for each editor, so here are links to some popular ones: Try running this command, wait for tests to execute the first time, then change sum.js or and see what happens. Like test-debug, this will start the container and wait for a debugger to be attached on port 9229, then execute the tests, but then it also watches for file changes and re-runs all tests when something changes. -v "$(pwd):/usr/src/app" to mount the local host directory in the container so that file changes are visible in the container.-it to be able to interact with the process, to control Jest. The -watchAll flag for Jest requires some additional Docker flags: docker run -it -v " $(pwd):/usr/src/app" -p 9229:9229 sum npm run test-watch-debug This will start the container and wait for a debugger to be attached on port 9229, then execute the tests. npm run test-debug to run our test command. This is necessary to attach your IDE or browser to the remote node instance. -p 9229:9229 to map the remote port 9229 to the local port 9229.docker run to run a command in an already built image. To run test-debug we have a fairly short command: docker run -p 9229:9229 sum npm run test-debug Then we'll walk through the different Docker commands that change depending on which testing command we want. įirst, build the container and tag it as sum: docker build -t sum. This is required for debugging the tests -watchAll runs after file changes.Īfter creating those 5 files you will end up with the directory tree. ![]() -runInBand causes all tests to be run in the parent process rather than child processes.-watchAll watches for file changes and re-runs all tests when something changes.node_modules/jest/bin/jest.js -watchAll -runInBand Test-watch-debug node -inspect-brk=0.0.0.0. node_modules/jest/bin/jest.js runs Jest just like it would with the jest command. The 0.0.0.0 IP means bind to all interfaces which is required for Docker networking. We're having node wait because the test will likely execute too fast for us to attach to it. -inspect-brk will wait for a remote debugger to attach before executing the code. The jest command doesn't provide a way to turn on the inspector. node is required in order to enable -inspect-brk. ![]() Now let's walk through each of those debug commands. Using the examples from Jest's " Getting Started ," create sum.js: function sum( a, b) ![]() Let's walk through creating the files necessary to demonstrate the remote debugging. Turns out it's pretty easy when you have the right flags. I ran into the need to debug Jest tests running inside a Docker container recently and didn't find any clear instructions on how to do it.

Purple eyes albino8/25/2023 ![]() This is due to uneven melanin content caused by genetics or injury. Heterochromia is a condition in which the color of one iris is different or partially different from the other eye. The pink color is the color of the retina showing through. True pink, red, or violet eyes are due to albinism, a condition in which the body is unable to produce or distribute melanin. You may have seen someone with pink or violet eyes, or maybe someone with one blue and one brown eye. If you’re curious about what color eyes your children might have, here’s an online predictor that does all the calculating for you. For example, if both parents have brown eyes, but are carriers of a blue gene, according to all the potential combinations using a 2-gene model, the child will most likely have brown eyes, but has a one in four chance of having blue eyes. By plotting the various combinations of alleles in this graph, the odds of eye color options can be calculated. A way of predicting the color of a child’s eyes is to input the parents’ eye colors into a graph called a Punnett square. In the case of eyes, brown is dominant to green and green is dominant to blue, so blue eyes only occur when all four alleles are blue. If the two alleles are different, only one is expressed and is called dominant while the unexpressed one is called recessive. These genes come in two different versions, or alleles. While there is evidence that up to 16 genes can influence eye color, the two most important genes are OCA2 and HERC2. Even in the case of two blue-eyed parents, it may be almost certain they would have a blue-eyed child, but because eye color is influenced by multiple genes, it is possible for a blue-eyed couple to have a brown-eyed child. Eye color probability can be determined, but what color a child’s eyes will be often can be impossible to predict exactly. Many babies of European descent are born with blue eyes that change to brown because melanin production has not begun at the time of birth. Lighter eye colors are due to an effect of light scattering in the stroma (a layer of the iris) called Rayleigh scattering, similar to why the sky looks blue. There are no blue or green pigments in the eye. Read on to learn the answers to these questions and more about eye color and genetics.Įye color is determined by the amount of a pigment called melanin in the iris. Ever wondered if a child’s eye color can be predicted? Or how two brown-eyed parents can have a blue-eyed child? Or why an albino’s eyes are pink? How we inherit eye color is a fascinating example of genes at work.

Peregrine falcon speed 247 lure8/25/2023 ![]() While there can be multiple peregrines in a site with an abundance of food, they aren’t gregarious. On or off their breeding grounds, peregrine falcons are loners. Their flashy colors, large, visible body plans, feeding habits, and wind-seeking behavior often bring them into proximity with other eagles. Hashtag #musing: could body plans impact gregariousness? Off their breeding grounds, bald eagles are quite gregarious. I find it to be more helpful than looking for hard-to-see features if a bird is far away. While they sacrifice some maneuverability, their food – carrion – doesn’t require agility to catch.Īgain, learning about body plans and flight behavior helps us understand birds and identify them in the field. This allows them to exploit the smallest of air currents as they soar lowly and slowly through the sky. Wind flows under the low wing, pushing the vulture and righting it until it tips again. As wind strikes one wing or another, tipping the vulture right or left, one wing tips high and the other tips low. Turkey vultures are masters of soaring without flapping as they ride the wind in search of carrion. Turkey Vulture: No flapping required!Ī turkey vulture “V” is more correctly referred to as a dihedral. Although they have spicules – rough bumps that help them grip slippery fish – bald eagles don’t specialize in any one kind of prey, and their size, strength, powerful feet, and fishing ability let them catch and eat a wide variety of prey. Without stopping, they fly into a tree, on to the bluff, or into the nest, crushing or stabbing the trout with their powerful feet and sharp talons. As we’ve seen at the fish hatchery, eagles swoop shallowly over the retaining pond, braking heavily as they plunge their feet into the water and pull out trout. Compared to a peregrine falcon, its speed of attack is slower, its angle of attack is lower, and it usually kills with its feet. Bald Eagle: Low speed, low angle snatchingĪ bald eagle’s large size, soaring flight, and strong feet allow it to take a wide variety of prey. ![]() While a peregrine’s feet are strong and quick – great for grabbing and slashing attacks – they don’t have the crushing strength of a bald eagle and their diet is largely restricted to other birds. If hitting a bird doesn’t kill it, peregrine falcons use their tomial tooth – a special notch in their beaks that bald eagles don’t have – to sever their prey’s spine. As the falcon approaches its prey, it extends its feet, brakes sharply, and snatches it out of the air with its long, slender toes and sharp talons. Special cone-shaped bones in its nostrils – an adaptation unique to peregrine falcons – allow it to breath while diving at speeds of over 200 miles per hour. A peregrine begins its dive by rolling, cupping its wings around its body, and tucking in its feet, yielding an aerodynamic raindrop that slices through the air. Peregrine Falcons: High speed, high angle strikingĪ peregrine falcon’s speed and maneuverability allow it to fly high, dive steeply, and hit prey so hard that the force of impact severs its prey’s spinal cord. The peregrine body plan and high-aspect wings – narrow, pointed wings relative to its overall surface area – is most suited to high-speed, high-energy flight. Where eagle flight is flat, peregrines often fly in a series of arcs as they dive, dash and pursue other birds. Their long, narrow, pointed wings and long tails are shaped for diving, twisting, and turning in flight. Peregrine falcons are built for speed and maneuverability. ![]() ![]() large, broad wings relative to its overall surface area – are most suited to low-angle, low-energy soaring flight. The bald eagle body plan and low-aspect wings – i.e. A stiff tail wind will send migrating eagles aloft in the thousands, especially over surfaces with little opportunity for thermal soaring. They tend to hold their wings flat in flight, migrate during the day, and use wind corridors – geographical features that concentrate and amplify wind – whenever possible. Body plans, size, and flightīald eagles are built for soaring, with long, broad, slightly-rounded wings, large wing slots, and broad, wedge-shaped tails. Both are birds of prey, but their body plans and wing shapes result in very different lives. Peregrine falcons are energetic, acrobatic flyers that specialize in catching birds in the air. Coming to our After the Fledge party in Decorah? Get ready for Turkey Vulture or Not with this article!īald eagles are soaring generalist hunters that eat almost anything they can catch. Bald Eagle or Turkey Vulture? Is that a Peregrine Falcon or something else? Understanding body plans can be helpful in identifying soaring, stooping, and flying birds.

Order currency online: If your bank doesn’t offer online shipping, you can also use a third party to get currency delivered to your door. Most banking apps have an “ATM locator” feature to help you find the closest option, and using an ATM affiliated with your bank can help you avoid excess fees. For example, Spain’s Banco Santander also has branches in the United States. Use your bank’s ATM abroad for withdrawals where possible: Similarly, if you need to exchange more money while you’re on your trip, try to find an in-network ATM.For example, Germany’s Norddeutsche Landesbank charges a fee worth 2% of the payment amount. Since you have an existing relationship with them, your bank is likely to give you the best exchange rates and charge the lowest fees. Exchange at a bank or credit union before your trip: Heading to your bank before your trip is often the most cost-effective way to exchange currency. ![]() Here are three ways to get the currency you need while minimizing the fees you’ll be charged: When you’re ready to buy USD, it’s a good idea to plan ahead to ensure that you pay the fewest fees. Using the current exchange rate, the formula for your conversion would look like this: dollars you have for a trip to the United States. Let’s say you have €1,000 EUR and would like to figure out how many U.S. The resulting number will show you the amount in dollars you have to spend on your trip. Once you know that information, multiply the amount you have in USD by the current exchange rate. At the time of writing, €1 EUR is worth $0.99 USD. However, in order to do this, you need to know the current exchange rate. The other option is to do the calculation manually using a simple mathematical formula. Individual merchants may also charge supplemental fees if you ask them to convert the price of an item to your home currency at checkout. For instance, credit card companies and ATM networks usually charge a 1% conversion fee on all foreign transactions. Keep in mind that exchanging currency often comes with added fees that a conversion calculator won’t be able to predict. Treatment for pulmonary barotrauma8/25/2023 A thoracostomy tube should then be placed to allow air to be continuously removed until the ruptured alveoli can seal to prevent the reoccurrence of a tension pneumothorax. Once the intrathoracic pressure is relieved, arterial blood pressure and oxygen saturation will improve. If a pneumothorax is suspected, positive pressure ventilation should be immediately discontinued and thoracocentesis performed for emergency decompression of the chest. It is therefore important that the clinician is aware of the potential risk for a pneumothorax based on the patient history and potential predisposing conditions. Pneumothorax may only become evident on cardiopulmonary collapse. On auscultation, lung sounds may be absent or significantly diminished.Įarly recognition of clinical signs can be hindered in cases in which the patient’s overall condition is already compromised (eg, patient in shock, with hypovolemia, and/or with significant intraoperative blood loss). The patient becomes more difficult to ventilate as lung compliance decreases and chest wall movement is diminished. As the pneumothorax evolves to a tension pneumothorax and venous return is compromised, severe hypotension and hypoxemia occurs. The high-pressure intrathoracic environment that soon develops limits lung expansion and, most importantly, prevents venous return to the heart, leading to cardiovascular collapse.Īs the lungs’ ability to expand decreases and atelectasis increases, a change in breathing pattern typically occurs, followed by dyspnea and a decrease in oxygen saturation. ![]() As the lung tissue recoils during exhalation, air cannot escape via its entry path and becomes trapped outside the lungs in the thoracic cavity. In a one-way valve mechanism, air leaks out during lung inflation. During anesthesia, a closed pneumothorax can rapidly evolve to a tension pneumothorax. Awareness and early recognition are key to a successful outcome. Pneumothorax is a life-threatening complication of barotrauma. The device will alarm when a dangerous breathing circuit pressure occurs (independent of cause), providing the clinician time to intervene. In addition, it can be used with both rebreathing and nonrebreathing systems with spontaneous or mechanical ventilation. This device provides an audible alarm when the breathing circuit pressure reaches a set level (typically 20 cm H2O). Although this can be useful during spontaneous ventilation, it does not completely eliminate the risk, as the original pop-off valve will still need to be closed (and opened afterward) if mechanical ventilation is to be used or during the process of pressure checking the anesthesia machine for leaks. Once the button is released, flow through the valve is automatically re-established, minimizing the risk for forgetting to reopen the original pop-off valve, as it will always be left open. When the top button of the valve is pushed, flow out of the pop-off valve is occluded and a manual breath can be administered. This device can be attached to the outflow port of the anesthesia machine’s original pop-off valve. Most anesthesia-associated barotrauma events (and resulting pneumothorax) can be avoided through both a functional understanding of the anesthesia machine and the presence of safety features designed to prevent harmful conditions or alert the team if such conditions arise, including: Because the ventilator’s driving pressure (65-75 cm H 2O) prevents the expansion of the bellows until breathing system pressures overcome the driving pressure, activation of the flush valve at this time (eg, to reinflate the bellows after a brief disconnection) would direct all the volume and resulting pressure to the breathing circuit. During the inspiratory phase, the ventilator’s driving pressure actively compresses the bellows to deliver a breath, and the ventilator’s exhaust valve is closed. ![]() Similarly, if the oxygen flush valve is used during the inspiratory phase of mechanical ventilation, the patient’s lungs may be exposed to excessive pressure and overdistension. Therefore, use of the flush valve while a patient is connected to a nonrebreathing system transmits excess volume and pressure directly to the patient’s airway and lungs. 3,4 A nonrebreathing system (eg, Bain breathing system) has a relatively small inner volume and little compliance. ![]() The oxygen flush valve allows oxygen at high pressure and volume into the breathing system (35-70 L/min with a pressure of 45-60 pounds per square inch gauge, which becomes approximately 1 L/s into the breathing system). Excessive inflow can occur from improper use of the oxygen flush valve, aggressive ventilator settings (high airway pressures and tidal volumes), and/or inappropriate connection of oxygen tubing (meant for oxygen insufflation via open mask) to a cuffed endotracheal tube, laryngeal mask airway, or other airway device without the ability to allow excess gas to vent. |
